Cabview Aliasing | Soundset Aliasing

CABVIEW ALIASING

Here is a list of the required actions needed to alias a cabview to a train.

  • Open your desired train's folder.
  • Open the train's folder which includes the desired .cvf cabview file you wish to use into a new window.
  • Copy the 'CABVIEW' folder belonging to the train which holds the relevant cabview to the desired train.
  • Rename the new .cvf file with the same name the original cabview had.

If you download a cabview off the internet the chances are it will be set up as a 'common cab'. If this is the case you should go to the 'common.cab' folder in the 'TRAINSET' folder and look in there for the cab you wish to use. Open any .cvf files in the folder into Notepad/Wordpad and if any have lots of 'common.cab' references then you should simply copy just this one file and place it in the 'CABVIEW' folder of the train you wish to use it and rename it with the name the original .cvf file had.

SOUNDSET ALIASING

Here is a list of the required actions needed to alias a soundset to a train.

  • Open your desired train's folder.
  • Open the .eng file into Notepad/Wordpad & search for a line with "xxxxxEng.sms" in it.
  • Replace this with "..\\..\\Name of train with new sounds\\SOUND\\xxxxxEng.sms".
  • Further down, locate "xxxxxCab.sms".
  • Replace this with "..\\..\\Name of train with new sounds\\SOUND\\xxxxxCab.sms".
  • Save the file, making sure that you have the drop down box set to 'All Files'.
