BVE Trainsim > Using RW Routes
With BVE4
USING RW
ROUTES WITH BVE4
A lot of the older routes that were designed for use with BVE2 were written
in .RW format. The newer versions of BVE only support route
files that are written in the .CSV format. This guide shows you how to
use the older routes with the latest versions of BVE. If you
have any problems please let me know
and I'll help you further. Remember that the
routes will not include all the BVE4 features, but at least
you will be able to now drive your old favourites in a nice full screen
resolution without the information bars to the right and to the
bottom of the screen.
For this to work you
will require the 'BVE Route Randomizer' from
http://koti.mbnet.fi/~lopomo/trainsoft This is a useful tool
in itself as it allows you to run any route with any train in
your collection in just three clicks as well as randomizing
other aspects.
WHAT TO DO
- Install and
configure the BVE Route Randomizer for BVE2 usage.
Instructions on how to do this are included with it.
- Click on the
desired .RW route file in the left hand pane. Then choose
a train in the right hand pane and click
'Load'.
- Once it has
loaded, exit the game and go to your BVE route folder
(usually C:\Program Files\BVE\Railway\Route) and copy
'BRRTemp.csv' and rename the copy to something you'll
remember.
You may even wish to put it in a new folder like many other
routes so to access the file you can click (for example)
the folder 'My Route' then the route file 'MyRoute.csv'.
This is because next time you run BRR the file 'BRRTemp.csv'
will be overwritten automatically but any copies
you make will not be.
- Now load BVE4
and click the new route file you have just created and it
will now load for you to drive.
